Jul
The visit to Spencer House in July was extremely popular, with 40 members and friends attending. This late 18th century town house was built by the 1st Earl Spencer, ancestor of the late Princess Diana, and considered one of the most sumptuous of its time.
On arrival we were served coffee and biscuits in the Ante Room and then divided into two groups to be taken through the other seven State Rooms of this historic house. Perhaps the most sumptuous is the Palm Room, with its gilded columns, used during the Second World War as a typing pool.
